New Delhi, Nov 17: In order to inculcate the importance of team spirit and sportsmanship among employees of Oil & Gas PSUs in Assam/North-East and to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Oil India Limited has been assigned the responsibility to organize the 29th Inter Unit PSPB Carrom Championship from 16th to 20th November 2022. Accordingly, it has been decided to conduct the tournament in Luitpaar club, Pipeline HQ, Narengi, Guwahati.
A total of 10 teams from 9 Petroleum PSU’s participated in the event hosted in the scenic township of Oil India Limited. The Petroleum PSU’s are ONGC, IOCL, NRL, MRPL, IGL, EIL, Petronet LNG, HPCL and Oil India Limited. A host of International & National Champions including World Champions , Smt. Rashmi Kumari of ONGC, Smr. Ilavzhaki, ONGC, Smt. Kajal Kumari of IOCL, Yogesh UdaybhanPardesi of IOCL, Ashok Gaur, ONGC, Jayashree of IOCL, Smt. Parimala Devi, IOCL, Sandeep Deorukhhar, IOCL, ModhGhufran , IOCL and many others are participating in the 5 days event.

On 15th Nov, 2022, Rameswar Teli, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour & Employment inaugurated the Inter-Unit tournament 2022-23 of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) at NFR Stadium, Maligaon Guwahati. PSPB under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas shall be holding its 05-day Inter-Unit tournament from 16th to 20th November in Guwahati. For the first time five games together have been organized by PSPB where ONGC, BPCL, MNGL, OIL & NRL are hosting Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Carrom & Football at Guwahati.
Competitions in five sporting disciplines viz. football, badminton, volleyball, basketball and carrom are held simultaneously during the tournament.
