Union Budget 2026–27 Raises Government Capex to ₹12.2 Lakh Crore to Boost Infrastructure

New Delhi, Feb 01: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a capital expenditure of Rs 12.2 lakh crore for the 2026-27 Budget, aiming to boost infrastructure projects and job creation.

The budget includes the establishment of an Infrastructure Risk Development Fund and emphasizes growth in highways, ports, railways, and power projects.

The government intends to maintain fiscal prudence while enhancing public investments, alongside implementing over 350 reforms to stimulate employment and productivity.

Sitharaman highlighted the need for India to integrate with global markets and leverage cutting-edge technologies, like AI, for sustainable economic momentum. The budget is guided by three duties: accelerate growth, fulfill citizen aspirations, and ensure equitable resource access.
