South Korean President Begins 3-Day State Visit to India

Seoul, April 19: Lee Jae Myung arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership between India and South Korea.

The visiting leader, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, was received at the airport by Harsh Malhotra. The visit marks Lee’s first official trip to India since assuming office.

According to Ministry of External Affairs, the visit represents an important milestone in advancing bilateral ties rooted in shared democratic values and longstanding civilisational linkages.

Lee is scheduled to hold summit talks with Narendra Modi on Monday, with discussions expected to focus on expanding cooperation across shipbuilding, trade, investment, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and emerging technologies. Regional and global issues of mutual interest will also be on the agenda.

Prime Minister Modi will host a luncheon in honour of the visiting leader, while Droupadi Murmu is set to host a state banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan following bilateral talks.

During the visit, Lee will also meet S. Jaishankar and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.

The visit comes amid sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries, with recent interactions taking place on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg and the G7 Summit in Canada. Both sides have reiterated their commitment to deepening economic and investment linkages while expanding cooperation in emerging sectors.
