Republic Day Rehearsals: Traffic Curbs on Kartavya Path, Advisory Issued

New Delhi, Jan 17: New Delhi’s Traffic Police have released a traffic advisory for temporary restrictions in central Delhi due to rehearsals for the upcoming Republic Day Parade.

These restrictions, which began on January 17, will continue on January 19, 20, and 21 to facilitate the movement of parade contingents along Kartavyapath.

Traffic will be restricted daily from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm during rehearsal days, and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, avoiding specific affected stretches such as Kartavyapath at Rafi Marg Crossing, Janpath Crossing, Mansingh Road Crossing, and the C-Hexagon area.

These locations are crucial traffic junctions in Lutyens’ Delhi and experience significant vehicle congestion, especially during office hours. The advisory urges motorists to adhere to traffic signage and directions from ground personnel, while also recommending alternative routes for smoother travel to not disrupt rehearsal activities.

The rehearsals involve large contingents from armed forces, paramilitary, police, and cultural performers, necessitating these restrictions for security and logistical coordination. Authorities assure the public that these measures are temporary, important for ensuring the success of the rehearsals, and encourage patience and cooperation from commuters.

The public is advised to stay informed through official channels of the Delhi Traffic Police for real-time updates on traffic diversions and any scheduling changes as Republic Day approaches.
