New Delhi, Jan 17: Visits to Rashtrapati Bhavan will be restricted from January 21 to 29 due to the Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat Ceremony, as announced by the President’s Secretariat.
Typically open for public viewing from Tuesday to Sunday, the Main Building of Rashtrapati Bhavan allows visits in seven time slots, while the Museum Complex and Change of Guard Ceremony can also be attended during regular hours, except on Gazetted holidays.
This year’s Republic Day Parade will feature a unique celebration marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’, showcasing India’s military strength and cultural diversity, with chief guests including António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen.
The event will display advanced defense technologies, cultural performances by 2,500 artists, and a flypast by 29 aircraft.
Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India, was designed by Edwin Lutyens and constructed between 1912 and 1929, originally serving as the Viceroy’s House. It comprises 340 rooms and is a significant site for national events and international diplomacy, embodying India’s cultural heritage and democratic values.
The estate features a 15-acre garden, Amrit Udyan, which typically opens in February and offers visitors a serene environment filled with diverse flora and fountains. Rashtrapati Bhavan continues to be a centerpiece for national celebrations and ceremonies.
