Reliance to Invest Rs 10 Lakh Crore in AI, Says Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani Announces Rs 10 Lakh Crore AI Investment by Reliance and Jio

New Delhi, Feb 19: Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced that Reliance Industries and Jio will invest Rs 10 lakh crore in Artificial Intelligence over the next seven years, positioning AI as a core pillar of the group’s long-term growth strategy.

Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, Ambani said the investment represents “patient, nation-building capital” aimed at creating durable economic value and strategic resilience.

To address the high cost of compute, Jio Intelligence will build sovereign AI infrastructure through gigawatt-scale data centres in Jamnagar, backed by green energy capacity and a nationwide edge computing network integrated with Jio’s telecom infrastructure.

Over 120 MW of AI-ready capacity is expected to come online in the second half of 2026, with plans to scale to gigawatt levels.

Ambani said the initiative will focus on boosting productivity across manufacturing, agriculture, MSMEs and the informal sector, while building multilingual AI capabilities across Indian languages. He emphasised that AI adoption would generate high-skill employment rather than displace jobs.
