RECPDCL Hands Over Hampapura Transmission SPV to Resonia After TBCB Win

Bengaluru, 30 May 2026 REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, handed over the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the InSTS Transmission Project in Karnataka to M/s Resonia Limited on 30 May 2026.

The SPV, Hampapura Power Transmission Limited, was transferred to Resonia after the company emerged as the successful bidder through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process managed by RECPDCL in its capacity as Bid Process Coordinator. The development will be undertaken on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis with an implementation period of 24 months.

The formal handover was carried out by Smt. Monisha Barua, GM & HoD, RECPDCL, to Tushar Chhabra, Head (Business Acquisition), Resonia Limited. The ceremony was attended by the Managing Director of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and senior officials from RECPDCL and KPTCL.

The scope of the scheme includes establishment of a 400/220/33 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation at Hampapura, construction of a 400 kV double circuit transmission line of approximately 299 km between Jagalur and Kadakola, and a 220 kV double circuit line of around 125 km connecting Hampapura to Nagamangala, Maddur, Tubinakere and Huygonahalli. The project also comprises a LILO (line-in-line-out) of the 400 kV DC quad moose line from the Jagalur–Kadakola corridor to the proposed 765/400 kV CN’Halli station, along with associated civil and electrical works.

RECPDCL said the handover marks a critical step toward strengthening Karnataka’s transmission infrastructure and enhancing grid reliability. The project is designed to support power evacuation and system reinforcement across the state, with completion targeted within the stipulated 24-month timeline under the BOOT arrangement.

As Bid Process Coordinator, RECPDCL facilitated the competitive bidding and contractual formalities leading to creation and handover of the project-specific SPV. M/s Resonia Limited will now proceed with detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operation as per contractual terms, after which the asset will be transferred as agreed under the BOOT model.

Officials involved noted that close coordination between the SPV, state transmission utility and regulatory authorities will be essential during execution to meet technical, safety and environmental compliance requirements. The handover follows central government efforts to leverage public-private partnerships for rapid augmentation of the transmission network to meet growing demand and integration needs.
