The Centre will collaborate closely with CERC and Grid India to strengthen institutional capacities and provide data-driven consultancy to regulators, focusing on the affordability, sustainability, and efficiency trilemma within the power sector. As India transitions towards clean energy and consumer-centric reforms, the CoE will support informed regulatory decisions that adapt to changing energy landscapes.

Prof. Rangan Banerjee from IIT Delhi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with CERC and Grid India, highlighting the importance of generating knowledge for a sustainable electricity sector.

CERC Chairman Jishnu Barua emphasized that sound regulation relies on data and analysis, while S C Saxena from Grid India noted that regulatory frameworks must align with grid operations. Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal praised the Centre as pivotal for the power sector’s development. The CoE will undertake multidisciplinary research in areas such as market design, decarbonisation, and emerging technologies, ultimately contributing to robust regulatory frameworks for India’s evolving power landscape.
