New Delhi, Feb 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force comparable to historic civilisational shifts, stating that current developments represent only the early phase of its long-term global impact.
Inaugurating the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, the Prime Minister emphasised India’s demographic and technological strengths, highlighting its large youth population, deep technology talent pool, and rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.
He noted that India not only develops emerging technologies but also adopts them at scale, positioning the country as a key stakeholder in the global AI landscape. Showcasing AI solutions across agriculture, security, assistive technologies, and multilingual services, he said the innovations on display reflect strong “Made in India” capabilities.
The Prime Minister underscored that while AI enhances machine intelligence, its greater value lies in amplifying human potential. He stressed that AI must remain human-centric, with governance and oversight guiding its deployment to ensure inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable economic opportunities.
