New Delhi, May 15: Narendra Modi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held extensive bilateral talks in Abu Dhabi on Friday, reaffirming the strength of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and outlining deeper cooperation across key economic and strategic sectors.

The discussions covered a wide range of areas including energy security, trade and investment, defence, shipping infrastructure, blue economy initiatives, fintech, advanced technologies, and people-to-people engagement, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

A major outcome of the visit was the UAE’s announcement of a fresh $5 billion investment commitment in India, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and market development. Officials indicated that the investment push would further deepen economic integration between the two countries.

Several agreements were also exchanged in strategic sectors such as energy, defence, infrastructure, shipping, and technology, providing fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation.

Energy security emerged as a central theme during the visit, particularly amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Prime Minister Modi highlighted the importance of maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as a free, open, and secure maritime corridor, stressing adherence to international law.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s long-standing position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the preferred route for resolving regional conflicts and underscored India’s readiness to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.

Modi also strongly condemned recent attacks targeting the UAE and reaffirmed India’s support for the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. Both leaders reiterated their shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

The Indian Prime Minister further expressed appreciation to the UAE leadership for supporting the Indian diaspora during recent regional tensions, acknowledging the role played by the UAE government and royal family in ensuring the welfare of Indian citizens.

The visit underscores the growing strategic convergence between India and the UAE, particularly in energy cooperation, investment flows, regional security, and emerging technology partnerships, at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia.
