New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary, emphasizing that Gandhi’s ideals and focus on Swadeshi continue to inspire India’s development as a self-reliant nation.
In his message on X, Modi referred to Gandhi as the Father of the Nation and highlighted his influence on the country’s path of duty. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also honored Gandhi, noting his role in uniting a divided India and his contributions to the freedom movement.
He mentioned that Gandhi’s ideas on Swadeshi, independence, and cleanliness will always be an inspiration. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister Kiren Rijiju further acknowledged Gandhi, with Rijiju noting Gandhi’s global influence and moral philosophy emphasizing truth, non-violence, and societal harmony.
Gandhi, a pivotal figure in India’s freedom struggle known for his non-violent approach, was assassinated on January 30, 1948. This day is commemorated annually as Martyr’s Day, where leaders and citizens alike remember his legacy of peace, unity, and moral courage.
