PM Modi and Swiss President Highlight AI Innovation and Responsible AI Governance

New Delhi, Feb 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Swiss President Guy Parmelin on Thursday discussed deepening India-Switzerland collaboration in trade, investment, and technology, with a focus on AI innovation. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit.

The talks highlighted the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which came into effect in October 2025, and explored future-ready partnerships to foster technological collaboration, quality investments, and job creation for youth.

Switzerland will host the next AI Summit in Geneva in 2027. President Parmelin emphasised that the event will contribute to global dialogue on responsible AI deployment, governance, and regulation. He noted, “AI is shaping our future at an unprecedented pace. Governments must work together to ensure AI benefits everyone.”

During his visit, Parmelin toured the Switzerland pavilion at the Summit, showcasing the country’s innovation and research excellence. He stressed that AI development must protect fundamental rights and align innovation with responsibility.
