Noida, June 12: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to launch a major electric bus service initiative on Friday, marking a significant step towards strengthening sustainable public transportation across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority region.
The e-bus service will be formally inaugurated from Shilp Haat in Sector-33A, Noida, where preparations for the launch ceremony have been completed.
The project is aimed at modernising public transport infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR), reducing carbon emissions and providing affordable, efficient and environmentally friendly mobility options to commuters.
According to officials, nearly 300 guests and stakeholders are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.
During the event, 10 electric buses will be flagged off by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while additional buses will begin operations from the Sector-90 bus depot on their designated routes.
In the first phase, 30 electric buses will be deployed, with 10 buses each operated by the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
Officials from all three authorities have prepared detailed route plans to ensure smooth operations and broad coverage across urban, suburban and developing areas.
According to Noida Authority Additional Chief Executive Officer Vandana Tripathi, passenger fares have been kept affordable, ranging from a minimum of ₹20 to a maximum of ₹50.
One of the key objectives of the project is to enhance connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, which is expected to become a major transportation hub in northern India.
Several e-bus routes will directly connect passengers to the airport, while others will link major commercial, residential and transport centres across the NCR.
Key destinations on the network include Botanical Garden, Sector-62, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, Pari Chowk and the upcoming Jewar Airport.
The service will also provide connectivity to important intercity transit hubs such as Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad and ISBT, making regional travel more convenient for daily commuters.
In addition to urban routes, long-distance services have been planned to improve transportation links between rural and urban areas within the Yamuna Authority region.
The larger expansion plan includes a fleet of 100 electric buses, with 50 buses earmarked for Noida and 25 buses each for Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area.
Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has already approved another 100 electric buses, paving the way for substantial expansion of the eco-friendly transport network.
By the end of 2026, around 200 electric buses are expected to operate across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna region, significantly strengthening public transport infrastructure.
The initiative aligns with the state’s focus on sustainable urban mobility, reducing vehicular pollution and improving last-mile connectivity for residents and visitors.
The launch of the e-bus service by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marks an important milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s push toward green and modern public transportation. With affordable fares, airport connectivity and plans to expand the fleet to 200 buses by year-end, the project is expected to transform mobility across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority region while supporting environmental sustainability.
