National productivity week-2015 celebrations concluded at Neyveli

Neyveli, Feb 23 To propagate the concept of “Make in India: Zero Defect, Zero Effect” . NLC celebrated the National Productivity Week 2015 from 12th -18th February 2015.

The inaugural function of the National Productivity Week was held at Auditorium, Thermal Training Centre in a grand manner on 16.02.2015 by lighting Kuthuvillakku by CMD, Functional Directors, CVO and Director/NIT/ Trichy.

In the Inaugural Function, Shri B.Surender Mohan, CMD, NLC delivered the Chief Guest address. In his address, he stressed that the Technology, Mechanization and Human Recourse play a major role in improving the productivity of an organisation.  He informed that, for improving productivity in Mines and Thermal Units, NLC has adopted Frugal Engineering concepts, to stress for ecological balance through land reclamation & afforestration activities. He highlighted  how Frugal engineering concepts, were introduced  in NLC Township, for energy conservation, by inducting  Capacitor banks for the improvement of power factor in the bore well water Pump houses and in Mines, variable voltage & variable frequency (VVVF) motor drives for  Conveyor systems.

Dr.Srinivasan Sundarrajan, Director/NIT, Trichy delivered the key note address on how Research & Analysis can bring productivity. Also he congratulated management for NLC’s performance in production front. He praised that NLC is having a good applied research Lab which is not available anywhere nearer to Trichy. All the Functional Directors and Chief Vigilance Officer, NLC, Exe. Directors and Senior Executives also graced the occasion.

As  part of the celebrations, at Site Training Programmes were conducted in all Industrial &Service Units and Offices by eminent external faculties Shri.Aravindha Krishnan HR consultant Chennai and Shri P. Lakshmanan, TQM consultant, Chennai.

Also a Case Study Competition, to highlight the problems &efforts made on improving productivity was highlight of the competitions, which evoked overwhelming response.

Essay, Slogan Writing, Poster Drawing Competitions and awareness programmes at Schools on Productivity aspects are conducted on the theme ‘Make in India: Zero defect, Zero effect’ for the employees of the NLC.

The valedictory function of the National Productivity Week 2015 was organized on the 21st February 2015 at Employee Development Centre, Neyveli. Professor, Shri N. Panchanatham, Registrar, Annamalai University, Chidambaram delivered the Chief Guest address,  In his address  he insisted on  how  regular analysis develops  Efficiency & Quality and leads  to the Productivity . He also stated that, on day to day, every employee of the organization needs to be sensitized about the resources and activities of the organization.

Shri S Boopathy, Director (Planning &Projects) the president of the Valedictory, in his speech informed all the employees of the organization, to act as an Industrial Engineer at individual level to save the resources of the organization, and to ensure the Productivity by achieving output at given Parameters.  He congratulated the Industrial Engineering (IE) wing management for their tremendous efforts in bringing new initiatives and cost saving measures to curtail the expenditures, which  bringing  `50 Crore  savings for a year. Shri SubirDas Director (Mines) Felicitated the occasion.

The Chief Guest and Functional Directors of the occasion distributed Mementos and Certificates to the winners of the various competitions organized during weeklong celebrations of National Productivity Week 2015.  The above week long celebrations were co-coordinated by the Industrial Engineering Wing, Corporate Office.
