New Delhi, Dec 31: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the deadline for filing financial statements and annual returns under the Companies Act to January 31, 2026, in response to numerous complaints regarding technical issues on the MCA portal.
The original deadline of December 31, 2025, was deemed unmanageable due to frequent timeouts and system errors experienced by filers attempting to submit their documents.
This extension applies to annual filings for the financial year 2024-25, which are mandatory for companies and include critical disclosures related to financial performance and regulatory compliance.
In an official announcement, the MCA confirmed that filings submitted within the extended period will not incur any late fees. The revised deadline encompasses several key forms including MGT-7, MGT-7A, AOC-4, and variations related to non-banking financial companies (NBFCs). It was also noted that the other conditions outlined in General Circular No. 06/2025 will remain unchanged, with only the deadline being modified.
The decision follows significant pressure from professionals and users on social media, who expressed frustrations about their inability to meet the filing deadline due to portal malfunctions.
