Maruti Suzuki India Limited Crosses 30 Lakh Vehicle Dispatches via Railways

New Delhi, May 13, 2026: Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s largest passenger vehicle maker, on Wednesday announced that it has cumulatively dispatched over 30 lakh vehicles via Indian Railways, marking a major milestone in its shift towards sustainable and green logistics.

📊 Rail Dispatch Share Jumps 5x in a Decade

The company has significantly increased its reliance on rail transport:

  • FY2014-15: 5% of total dispatches
  • FY2025-26: 26.5% of total dispatches

This reflects a strong transition towards eco-friendly freight movement.

Fastest Growth in Rail Dispatches

Maruti Suzuki highlighted that:

  • The jump from 2 million to 3 million vehicles via rail
  • Was achieved in just 21 months
  • Making it the fastest addition of 1 million units through rail in its history

🌱 ₹1,372 Crore Investment in Green Logistics

Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the milestone represents a key step in the company’s green mobility vision.

  • Rail dispatches have grown 9 times since 2014
  • Over ₹1,372 crore invested in green logistics infrastructure

He also credited the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for enabling multi-modal logistics integration.

🎯 Target: 35% Rail Dispatch by 2030

Looking ahead, the company plans to:

  • Increase rail share to 35% by FY2030-31
  • Set up an in-plant railway siding at its upcoming Kharkhoda facility (Haryana)

This will help:

  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Ease road congestion

🏭 Strong Rail Infrastructure Backbone

Maruti Suzuki is currently:

  • The only passenger vehicle maker in India with railway sidings inside plants
  • Operating facilities at:
    • Hansalpur (Gujarat)
    • Manesar (Haryana)

These are developed under the PM GatiShakti plan.

🌍 Pan-India Rail Network Reach

  • Annual rail dispatch capacity: 7.5 lakh vehicles
  • Network covers 600+ cities
  • Operates via 22 logistics hubs using a hub-and-spoke model
