IndianOil R&D has successfully developed a novel and economical magnesium based catalyst support which has been extensively and successfully subjected to catalyst synthesis for Polypropylene and Polyethylene. The synthesis process is based on off-the-shelf available raw materials making the process viable. The resulting catalyst system has been found to be highly active for propylene polymerization resulting in polypropylene having desirable properties. The IndianOil team of inventors include Dr. Gurmeet Singh, DMR; Dr. Dr. Bhaskar Bantu, SRO; Dr Sukhdeep Kaur, SRO; Dr K Naresh Kumar, SRO; Dr. Shashikant, Scientist Emeritus and Dr. G S Kapur, DGM.

The indigenously synthesized catalyst is another initiative of IndianOil in the direction of ‘Make in India’ programme of the Government of India.  With Innovation as one the core Corporate Values, IndianOil has done pathbreaking research in Polymer Science & Technology.

Instituted by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, these National Awards are conferred for Technology Innovation in various fields such as Polymeric Material, Polymeric Products, Polymer Processing Machinery & Equipment, Polymer Waste Management & Recycling Technology, Green Polymeric Materials & Products, Polymers in Agriculture and Water Conservation, Polymers in Public Health Care and Research in the field of Polymer Science & Technology.
