New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS): India is the world’s largest recipient of remittances, with inflows reaching $135.4 billion in FY25, supporting a stable external account, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26.

The report highlights an increase in remittances from advanced economies due to skilled workers and calls for reducing manufacturing costs to improve export competitiveness.

India has attracted significant gross investment inflows of 18.5% of GDP in FY25 and is the top destination for Greenfield investments, with $114 billion from 2020-24.

Foreign exchange reserves rose to $701.4 billion, covering 11 months of goods imports. The external debt increased to $746 billion, representing a manageable 19.2% of GDP and less than 5% of total debt, mitigating external sector risks.
