New Delhi, Jan 01: India is set to welcome its first Bullet Train on August 15, 2027, as announced by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The inaugural service will run on tracks connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad, covering a distance of 508 kilometers, with 352 kilometers in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and 156 kilometers in Maharashtra.
The government aims to reduce travel time between the two major cities to approximately two hours, enhancing inter-city mobility. Currently, over 85% of the corridor is being constructed on elevated viaducts, with 326 kilometers already completed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently reviewed the project, focusing on progress including the Surat station, which showcases the city’s diamond industry.
This station features three levels for different functions and is accompanied by significant advancements in the construction of river bridges, with 17 of 25 completed. The overall project reflects India’s commitment to modernize its transport infrastructure.
