On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 with an increased allocation of Rs 40,000 crore for electronics component manufacturing.
This initiative aims to enhance domestic production and innovation in semiconductors, building on ISM 1.0’s accomplishments.
The budget for 2026-27 also includes a Rs 10,000 crore SME growth fund and an integrated programme for the textile sector comprising the National Fibre Scheme, Textile Expansion and Employment Scheme, and the National Handloom and Handicraft Programme.
Additionally, support for establishing rare earth corridors in mineral-rich states was introduced.
