New Delhi, Jan 19: India is set to have a prominent presence at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos from January 19-23, featuring Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and over 100 CEOs representing leading corporations.
As the fastest-growing major economy, India aims to attract global investments. Key Union ministers attending include Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways, Information & Broadcasting), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture), Pralhad Joshi (Renewable Energy), and K Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation).
State leaders like Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), N Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), and Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) will also seek investments for their regions.
This year’s theme, ‘Spirit of Dialogue,’ addresses global economic uncertainties influenced by US tariffs and geopolitical tensions. Notably, US President Donald Trump will lead the largest American delegation, amid controversial tariff proposals impacting NATO allies.
The WEF’s ‘Global Risks Report 2026’ highlights geoeconomic conflict as the principal risk, with 50% of respondents anticipating global volatility from 2026-2028. The conference will gather nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries, including prominent political figures and CEOs, alongside top AI leaders like Jensen Huang and Satya Nadella.
