India Hosts BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Delhi Today

BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Meeting to Begin in Puri on June 3

New Delhi, May 14: The BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is set to commence in New Delhi under India’s 2026 chairship, against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia and a rapidly evolving global order.

Chaired by S. Jaishankar, the two-day ministerial engagement will bring together foreign ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries and partner nations. Delegations have begun arriving in the national capital, with participants also scheduled to meet Narendra Modi during their visit.

As the first major ministerial-level engagement under India’s BRICS presidency, the meeting is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the agenda for the Leaders’ Summit later this year.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, discussions will focus on key regional and global developments, enhancing multilateral cooperation, and advancing reforms in global governance frameworks to reflect current geopolitical realities.

India has positioned its chairship under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” aligning with a people-centric and “Humanity First” approach articulated by the Prime Minister during the 2025 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

The meeting also underscores India’s growing influence within BRICS and its broader leadership role among Global South nations. This marks the fourth time India is hosting a BRICS-level engagement, reflecting its expanding diplomatic and strategic footprint within the grouping.

With BRICS continuing to broaden its membership and global relevance, the outcomes of the meeting are expected to set the tone for deeper economic cooperation, stronger political alignment, and a more coordinated approach to global challenges among member nations.
