Gandhinagar, Jan 31 (IANS): Gujarat has become India’s largest contributor to renewable energy, holding a 16.5% share of the national total with an installed capacity of 42.583 GW as of December 2025.
Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state leads in total installed renewable and wind power capacity, and is second in solar power. Wind energy constitutes 14,820.94 MW and solar energy 25,529.40 MW, with significant contributions from hybrid and off-grid sources.
Notably, Gujarat excels in rooftop solar installations, accounting for over 25% of India’s total, generating 6,412.80 MW. The state aims for 105 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, supporting national targets for clean energy and job creation, with 5,203 projects currently underway.
