Government Says India’s Broadband Subscribers Surpassed 1 Billion in November

India Broadband Subscribers March 2026: Cross 1.06 Billion Mark

New Delhi, Jan 01: India’s broadband subscriber base reached over 1 billion in November 2025, growing more than six times from 131.49 million in November 2015, according to the Ministry of Communications.

The total number of Internet subscribers increased from 1002.85 million in Q1 FY26 to 1017.81 million in Q2 FY26, reflecting a 1.49% quarterly growth. Among these, 44.42 million are Wired Internet subscribers and 973.39 million are Wireless Internet subscribers.

Furthermore, the broadband Internet subscriber base rose by 1.63% from June to September 2025, while the narrowband Internet subscriber base fell from 23.14 million to 22.18 million in the same period.

Wireline subscribers also declined from 47.49 million to 46.61 million, though there was a 26.21% YoY increase by the end of Q2 FY26. Additionally, the monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) for wireless service saw a 10.67% YoY increase during this quarter.
