New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS): In its Union Budget 2026-27, India has allocated Rs 20,000 crore over five years to accelerate Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies, a key element in achieving net-zero emissions.
This funding targets hard-to-abate industrial sectors such as power generation, steel, and cement, essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The initiative supports India’s CCUS roadmap, aiming to develop domestic capabilities while enhancing competitiveness against global tariffs on high-carbon imports.
The proposal is expected to encourage private sector partnerships, job creation, and aligns with broader sustainable development efforts, marking a significant step in India’s decarbonisation strategy.
