New Delhi, Mar 14 Commercial LPG cylinder distribution has resumed for select industries across several states, with the government confirming that no stockouts have been reported at retail outlets nationwide.
Addressing a briefing on the fuel situation, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said the government has allowed commercial consumers to receive LPG supplies to support operational needs.
“In some states, commercial cylinders are being directly supplied to industries,” she said, a move expected to provide relief to sectors such as restaurants and hospitality.
The official reiterated that there is no shortage of LPG in the country and urged consumers to avoid panic booking despite a recent surge in demand. The government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted supply to both domestic and commercial users, she added.
Meanwhile, two LPG carriers have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz, with more tankers expected to transit the route after Iran granted safe passage to Indian-flagged vessels.
According to sources, 28 Indian-flagged ships are currently operating in the Persian Gulf region, and authorities are actively monitoring their safety.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has intensified maritime monitoring and preparedness measures in view of the evolving situation in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, handling nearly 20 per cent of global oil and gas exports.
Separately, two oil tankers — Shivalik and Nanda Devi — owned by Shipping Corporation of India are expected to reach India within the next few days under naval guidance to ensure safe passage.
