New Delhi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Railway Women Welfare Central Organisation (RWWCO) hosted a grand felicitation ceremony at the National Rail Museum Auditorium, New Delhi.
The event was graced by the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, Satish Kumar, who honoured 33 outstanding women employees representing each zone, production unit (PU), and select public sector undertakings (PSUs) of Indian Railways.
Addressing the gathering, Satish Kumar lauded the invaluable contributions of women in Indian Railways, stating that their dedication and hard work not only match but often surpass that of their male counterparts. He emphasised that women’s participation is not confined to their professional roles alone; rather, they form an integral pillar of the strength and success of Indian Railways.
Their relentless efforts, leadership, and commitment have propelled the organisation to greater heights. Quoting a poem, he beautifully described women as “respect, honour, and the pride of our culture… the embodiment of power, devotion, and the radiant expression of life’s light.”
Speaking at the event, RWWCO President, Dr. Ruby Rani Singh, highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by Indian Railways to empower women employees, ensure workplace safety, and foster gender equality. The ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Secretary of the organisation, Amrita Sharma; Treasurer, Nirdeshak Singh; and Joint Secretary, Anjali Verma, who extended their support towards advancing women’s role in the organisation.
