New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS): The Government has proposed several key initiatives in the Union Budget 2026, including waiving customs duty on 17 cancer drugs and 7 rare disease medications to lower treatment costs.
Additionally, a second National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) will be established in North India, addressing the shortage of mental health facilities.
The government plans to enhance the capabilities of district hospitals by 50% through the creation of emergency and trauma care centres. Moreover, two schemes, Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana and Divyang Sahara Yojana, aim to provide dignified livelihoods and improve the production of assistive devices for the differently-abled.
