New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a Rs 10,000 crore allocation for the Bio Pharma Shakti scheme in the Budget 2026-27, aimed at positioning India as a global bio-pharma hub to address non-communicable diseases like diabetes.
The budget also includes the creation of 1 lakh Allied Health Professionals over five years, establishment of 1.5 lakh caregivers for geriatrics, and the expansion of emergency and trauma centers, alongside enhancements to mental health facilities.
Sitharaman highlighted the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, sustained economic growth, and comprehensive reforms across various sectors. The Union Budget emphasizes three key duties: economic growth, fulfilling people’s aspirations, and ensuring equitable access to resources.
