Aligarh, December 11: The autobiography “Nazra to New Jersey”, authored by Professor H.S.A. Yahya, former Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was formally released on December 9, 2025, at the Ibn Sina Academy, Dodpur, Aligarh.
Prior to the public release, Prof. Yahya presented a signed copy of the book to AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge, in the presence of AMU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan and Registrar Prof. Aasim Zafar. The dignitaries congratulated Prof. Yahya and appreciated the scholarly and inspirational value of the autobiography.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Naima Khatoon said the book goes beyond a personal narrative and represents an inspiring academic legacy. She noted that it reflects how perseverance, values, and vision shape meaningful scholarly journeys.
During the release ceremony, Prof. A.R. Kidwai, Director of the K.A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, presented a detailed review of the book, highlighting Prof. Yahya’s academic achievements, leadership roles, and contributions to teaching and research.
Prof. Satish Kumar, Chairman, Department of Wildlife Sciences, recalled Prof. Yahya’s role in strengthening the department during his tenure as Chairman. Delivering the presidential address, Padma Shri Prof. Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman praised Prof. Yahya’s lifelong dedication to academia and encouraged young scholars to draw inspiration from the experiences of distinguished academicians.
The event was attended by faculty members, department chairpersons, and research scholars from across the university. The programme was conducted by Prof. Abdur Raheem K., Chairman, Department of Museology, who emphasised the importance of preserving academic legacies. Copies of the book were distributed among the participants.
