New Delhi, Nov 28: Indian Railways, led by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, has extended the Gorakhpur–Pilibhit Express to Izzatnagar (Bareilly), responding to longstanding requests from local residents.
This extension aims to improve connectivity in Uttar Pradesh’s Terai region, facilitating better market access for agricultural and forest products, enhancing population mobility, and fostering socio-economic growth.
The initiative is expected to boost tourism and create employment opportunities. Since 2014, Uttar Pradesh has seen significant railway development, including over 5,272 km of new track, 100% electrification, and the construction of numerous flyovers.
Innovations such as lifts, escalators, and Wi-Fi services at stations have enhanced passenger convenience. Additionally, the budget for railway investment in the state has surged eighteen-fold.
Union Minister of State Jitin Prasada emphasized the benefits to students, farmers, and tourists from these developments. This modernization effort marks a commitment to sustainable and improved rail services in the region.
