New Delhi, May 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent five-nation tour has helped India secure an estimated investment pipeline of nearly $40 billion, with global companies and partner nations announcing fresh commitments and expansion plans across key sectors, officials said.

During the visit, PM Modi met chief executives and senior representatives of more than 50 multinational corporations operating in sectors including semiconductors, logistics, infrastructure and technology.

Officials said the participating companies collectively represent a market valuation of approximately $2.7–3 trillion, underlining the scale of international business engagement during the tour.

Many of these firms already maintain a significant presence in India, with their combined investments and business exposure in the country estimated at nearly $180 billion.

According to officials, several companies are now evaluating further expansion in India to capitalise on the country’s strong economic growth, rising consumption demand and improving investment environment.

Among the key announcements during the visit, the United Arab Emirates committed fresh investments worth around $5 billion in India.

Officials said the total value of new investment commitments and proposed business expansion plans discussed during the tour is estimated at nearly $40 billion, describing the outcome as a strong vote of confidence in India’s long-term economic prospects.

PM Modi’s five-nation visit covered the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, during which India signed multiple agreements and deepened strategic engagement with partner countries.

India and the Netherlands unveiled a strategic partnership roadmap focusing on trade, defence, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and green hydrogen.

India and Sweden agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, while the Prime Minister also attended the third India-Nordic Summit in Norway and held bilateral meetings with Nordic leaders.

India and Italy further elevated ties to a Special Strategic Partnership following discussions between PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“Concluding a very productive visit to Italy. My discussions with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni covered a wide range of sectors,” PM Modi said in a post on X, adding that the enhanced partnership would provide fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the Italy visit as the successful conclusion of PM Modi’s five-country diplomatic tour, highlighting significant outcomes and renewed momentum in India’s engagement with Italy and other partner nations.
