New Delhi, April 19: The Centre on Sunday reaffirmed that domestic LPG supply remains stable despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia, with over 53.5 lakh cylinders delivered in a single day, underscoring supply chain resilience.
According to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, LPG deliveries have continued seamlessly against bookings, with no reports of stock-outs at distributorships. On April 18, 2026, more than 53.5 lakh cylinders were delivered nationwide, with priority given to household consumption to ensure uninterrupted access to essential cooking fuel.
Digital adoption across the LPG ecosystem has remained strong, with nearly 98% of bookings being made online. Additionally, over 93% of deliveries are now authenticated through Delivery Authentication Codes (DAC), enhancing transparency and preventing diversion.
On the supply front, the government has ensured 100% availability across domestic LPG, PNG, and CNG segments. Commercial LPG allocation continues to prioritise critical sectors such as healthcare, education, pharmaceuticals, steel, automobiles, and agriculture.
To support vulnerable segments, supply of 5 kg LPG cylinders for migrant workers has been doubled based on earlier consumption patterns. Commercial LPG supplies have also recovered to around 70% of pre-crisis levels, with over 1.67 lakh metric tonnes—equivalent to more than 88 lakh 19-kg cylinders—supplied since mid-March.
To ease pressure on LPG demand, alternative fuels such as kerosene and coal have been made available. The Ministry of Coal has directed Coal India Limited and Singareni Collieries Company Limited to enhance coal supplies to states for distribution among small and medium consumers.
States have also been advised to accelerate PNG connectivity for domestic and commercial users, while auto LPG demand has seen a notable uptick, with average daily sales rising in April compared to February.
The government said it continues to closely monitor the evolving situation and remains committed to maintaining uninterrupted energy supplies and stability in domestic fuel markets.
