PM Modi Highlights Role of Homoeopathy

India, Netherlands Set to Deepen Strategic Partnership During Modi Visit

New Delhi, April 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the expanding role of homoeopathy in India’s healthcare ecosystem, emphasising its contribution to a holistic and patient-centric wellness model on the occasion of World Homoeopathy Day.

Citing an article by Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav, the Prime Minister noted that homoeopathy has evolved into an integral component of India’s pluralistic health system, supported by strong community engagement and a sustainable care approach aligned with the “Viksit Bharat” vision.

The government underscored growing domestic and global acceptance of homoeopathy, particularly in community healthcare and public health interventions. Policy efforts have focused on expanding its reach through evidence-based practices, improved accessibility, and integration into national health programmes.

Ayush Secretary Rajesh Kotecha highlighted the synergy between traditional systems such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and homoeopathy, noting their shared emphasis on nature-based, patient-focused care. He added that homoeopathy has demonstrated utility in managing chronic and infectious diseases, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Technology-driven initiatives such as ‘Aura’ and ‘AYUSH ID’ are further enhancing accessibility, transparency, and delivery efficiency within the sector.

With origins in the early 19th century, homoeopathy has grown into a significant segment of India’s alternative medicine ecosystem. The country currently has approximately 3.45 lakh registered practitioners, over 8,500 dispensaries, 277 educational institutions, and 34 research centres, reflecting its scale and institutional depth.

The continued expansion of homoeopathy underscores its role in diversifying India’s healthcare delivery model while supporting broader wellness and preventive care strategies.
