New Delhi, March 27: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has launched the MyPNG-D Portal, enabling consumers who have shifted to piped natural gas (PNG) to surrender their LPG connections digitally without visiting dealerships.
Announcing the initiative, Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the process can now be completed from home using a registered mobile number or LPG ID, significantly reducing procedural friction for consumers.
The move is aimed at accelerating voluntary surrender of LPG connections by PNG users, allowing better redistribution to households that still lack access to cleaner cooking fuel.
According to Mittal, the platform has seen early traction, with 1,797 consumers surrendering their LPG connections within a day of its launch. He encouraged more users to participate in the initiative to support equitable energy access.
The government expects the digital intervention to enhance efficiency in LPG distribution, improve access to clean energy, and support the broader transition towards PNG in urban areas.
