The Centre has assigned additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog to Nidhi Chhibber following the completion of the three-year tenure of B V R Subrahmanyam.
A 1994-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, Chhibber is currently serving as Director General of the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO) under NITI Aayog. In this role, she has led monitoring and impact assessments of flagship central government schemes, strengthening performance tracking and evidence-based policymaking.
Chhibber previously served as Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education, where she oversaw examination reforms and institutional governance processes. She holds a Master’s degree in History and an LL.B., bringing administrative and legal expertise to her expanded mandate.
Subrahmanyam, a 1987-batch IAS officer, concludes a tenure focused on accelerating policy reforms, deepening state-level governance frameworks, and advancing digital transformation initiatives aligned with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. His career spans key leadership roles across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir, including Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, as well as central assignments in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Prime Minister’s Office. He also had a stint with the World Bank.
