India Set to Become Engine of Global Growth, Says PM Modi

New Delhi, Feb 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India will act as a global growth engine while developing its own model of progress.

At the ET Now Global Business Summit 2026, he highlighted the government’s commitment to economic reforms aimed at benefiting the masses and fostering a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Modi noted the rapid development of infrastructure facilitated by expedited decision-making processes and innovations reflected in this year’s Union Budget, which focuses on capital expenditure and technology.

He referenced significant sectors such as biopharma, AI, and semiconductors. Modi praised the UPI reform for enhancing financial inclusivity and pointed out that India’s self-confidence has enabled it to sign free trade agreements with 38 nations, contrasting the previous government’s limited success.

He asserted that India will drive global growth and reshape the current world order, moving beyond a one-size-fits-all economic model.
