India–Taiwan Relations Developing into Structured Partnership, Says Report

New Delhi, Feb 11: India and Taiwan are transitioning from cautious commercial ties to a structured partnership that encompasses technology, labor mobility, and supply chains.

This change is driven by India’s Act East Policy aligning with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, enhancing India’s focus on technological security and supply chain resilience amid Indo-Pacific strategic considerations, rather than solely on China.

The relationship has evolved beyond historical sensitivities, marked by structural integrations such as the Talented Labour Agreement and the establishment of a new Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Mumbai.

Ongoing dialogues aim to normalize Taiwan’s participation in strategic areas without formal security cooperation, fostering a resilient economic framework and addressing broader regional challenges.
