Government Launches Offer for Sale to Divest Up to 5% Stake in BHEL

New Delhi, Feb 11: On February 10, the Indian government launched an Offer for Sale (OFS) to divest up to a 5% stake in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), starting with an initial 3% stake and an option for an additional 2% to accommodate oversubscription.

The floor price is set at Rs 254 per share. The 3% stake equates to over 10.44 crore shares, with the additional 2% amounting to approximately 6.96 crore shares, totaling 17.41 crore shares.

The OFS opens for non-retail investors tomorrow and for retail investors on Thursday, with shares sold via designated windows on BSE and NSE. This sale is part of the government’s disinvestment programme, with a revised target of Rs 33,837 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26, down from Rs 47,000 crore.

Additionally, BHEL has secured a project valued at around Rs 2,800 crore from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) as part of a joint venture.
