SBI Sets Up ‘CHAKRA’ Centre to Support Financing of Sunrise Sectors

Mumbai, Jan 31 (IANS): State Bank of India (SBI) has launched ‘CHAKRA’, a Centre of Excellence aimed at financing sunrise sectors essential for India’s economic development.

The centre will primarily focus on eight sectors: renewable energy, advanced cell chemistry, electric mobility, green hydrogen, semiconductors, decarbonisation, smart infrastructure, and data centers.

By 2030, these sectors are projected to require over Rs 100 lakh crore in investments. CHAKRA will facilitate knowledge-sharing, policy engagement, and innovative financing solutions, enhancing SBI’s role in climate finance and integration into the global value chain.

Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty emphasized the importance of innovation and sustainability in India’s future growth.
