Amaravati, Jan 6 ONGC on Tuesday said it has finalised a blowout control plan for well Mori-5 in Andhra Pradesh’s Dr B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, where a fire has been burning for the second day.
Senior ONGC officials, including Director (Technology & Field Services) Vikram Saxena, along with Crisis Management Team experts, have taken operational control of the well at Irusumanda village. The company said excavation for a temporary canal has been completed to deploy high-capacity firewater pumps, which have reached the site.
ONGC said the flame intensity has reduced and the fire has been redirected vertically, while air, noise and water quality are being monitored within a 600-metre radius.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and directed officials to keep residents informed, ensure support for affected people, and compensate farmers for losses.
