New Delhi, Dec 27: Coal India Limited (CIL) has appointed its Chairman-cum-Managing Director B. Sairam as Chief Executive Officer, effective December 26, 2025.
This dual role aims to enhance decision-making and leadership within the company, which accounts for over 80% of India’s coal production.
The appointment is timely as CIL pursues a target of 875 million tonnes for the 2025-26 financial year and explores diversification into critical minerals. Sairam brings extensive experience, having previously led Northern Coalfields Limited and served as Director (Technical) at Central Coalfields Limited, where he contributed to logistics and project implementations essential for CIL’s growth and strategic expansion.
