Muscat, Dec 18 (IANS): Oman Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘The First Class of the Order of Oman’ on December 18, marking his 29th international honor. Modi received another award, Ethiopia’s ‘Great Honor Nishan’, for fostering bilateral relations.
The leaders of India and Oman discussed enhancing their strategic partnership during a meeting in Muscat, focusing on the recently signed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which they hailed as a landmark development.
They also explored topics such as defense, trade, energy, and regional matters. Modi addressed the Indian community and the India-Oman Business Forum, emphasizing the potential for economic collaborations.
This visit marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Oman, highlighting their robust cooperation, especially in energy security and maritime collaboration. Modi’s trip reflects the deepening political engagement between the nations, with high-level discussions following Sultan Haitham’s visit to India earlier in December 2023.
