NEW DELHI, Dec 03 Prominent personalities, media persons, and academics gathered at the Constitution Club on Wednesday to witness the unveiling of the book, The Roaming Bihari and His Bagful of Stories, which Ehtesham Shahid has authored.
The book, published by BlueOne Ink, is a compilation of anecdotes, analyses, and observations by the author during his two decades working as a journalist in the Gulf and the Middle East. The chief guest at the function was veteran bureaucrat and former Indian Administrative Service Officer, Mr. Afzal Amanullah.
Veteran journalist Mr Javed Ansari and the book’s publisher, Mr Praveen Tiwari, were also present on the occasion. Prominent journalist Simran Sodhi anchored the program.
After the book’s unveiling, a discussion was held on the future of Bihar and its implications for Biharis in India and abroad. During the debate and the subsequent interactive session, participants highlighted the challenges facing Bihar and what could be done to tackle them.
The book, The Roaming Bihari, is the outcome of the experiences, reflections, and observations gathered over two decades of working in various media and think tank spheres in the Middle East and the author’s many trips further afield.
In the book, Ehtesham Shahid encapsulates the idiosyncrasies and stereotypes that define the Gulf and the Middle East, and how the growing profile of India’s expatriate workers has influenced their image in these regions. In this book, news reports organically morph into anecdotes and analyses.
