New Delhi, Oct 18: The Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, has reported that the Ministry of Development of the Northeast (MDoNER)’s expenditure on projects in the region reached an all-time high of Rs 3,447.71 crore in FY 2024-25, marking a 74.4% increase over the previous year and over 200 per cent growth in three years.
This performance reflects the emphasis of MDoNER on fiscal discipline, digital monitoring, and timely delivery. The region has transformed from a frontier into a front-runner, symbolizing confidence and competitiveness.
The MDoNER has institutionalized Chief Minister-led sectoral high-level task forces across eight sectors, fostering inter-state collaboration and ensuring regional integration.
The region has also accelerated approvals for major infrastructure projects through an Inter-Ministerial Facilitation Mechanism. The region has also made significant progress in improving connectivity, with 17 airports in eight northeastern states and rail connectivity in all states set to be connected by 2029.
The government’s efforts to diversify the Northeast’s economy through industry-led agri-horticulture value chain development are creating jobs, strengthening exports, and enhancing rural entrepreneurship.
