Nagpur, September 23 In a significant step towards environmental conservation and sustainability, Sarkaritel.com, in collaboration with the National Water Mission (NWM) and Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), organised the tree plantation drive ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at the Nagpur Police Training Center. The event was led by Nagpur Police Commissioner, Dr. Ravinder Singal, IPS, and included active participation from Neeraj Wankhede, renowned Water Warrior, along with police personnel, trainees, and community volunteers.
The initiative connects environmental action with cultural values by encouraging participants to plant and nurture trees in the name of their mothers, promoting water conservation, afforestation, and ecological responsibility.
Dr. Ravinder Singal said, “Planting a tree is not just an act of environmental service; it is a gift of life. Dedicating it to one’s mother makes the gesture deeply personal and meaningful. Each tree planted today will serve as a legacy for future generations.”
S. Rushikesh Reddy, DCP Zone I, Nagpur Police also participated in the tree plantation drive.
Principal Reena Janbandhu addressed the new women police trainees, highlighting the importance of giving back to nature and society. She explained that ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ means planting a tree for both our birth mother and Mother Earth. Trainees must nurture these trees at the Police Training Center and pass this responsibility to future batches. Planting trees also helps conserve water, making it a duty that extends beyond the PTC and into their lives.

Neeraj Wankhede emphasized the importance of integrating small sustainable practices into daily life. He remarked, “Every tree we plant and every drop of water we conserve strengthens our bond with nature. Initiatives like ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ inspire communities to act collectively for a greener future.”

Representatives from Western Coalfields Limited Satish Gabale, GM PR and Ashish Tayal, Senior Manager, PR expressed their commitment to environmental stewardship, stating, “As a responsible PSU, WCL is proud to support campaigns that promote afforestation and water conservation. Participating in this initiative reflects our dedication to sustainable development and community engagement.”

Over a hundred saplings of native species were planted across the Nagpur Police Training Center campus. Participants—including police officials, cadets, WCL representatives, Neeraj Wankhede, and volunteers—pledged to nurture the saplings and ensure their long-term growth.
Addressing the Trainees at Police Training Center Ameya Sathaye, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Sarkaritel.com highlighted that the campaign is gaining momentum nationwide, reaching schools, universities, PSUs, and government institutions. By blending cultural values with ecological responsibility, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ has become a people-driven movement that encourages actionable steps towards a sustainable future.
