Boost to Northeast : PM Modi Launches ₹7,300-Crore Projects in Manipur

New Delhi, Sep 13 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur, Manipur. He emphasized Manipur’s potential as a jewel of the North East and highlighted the government’s commitment to its development. Key initiatives discussed include:

Significant investment in improving road connectivity with ₹3,700 crore spent on National Highways and ₹8,700 crore for new projects. Rail connectivity is being expanded with a ₹22,000 crore investment in the Jiribam Imphal railway line, and air connectivity enhanced by the ₹400 crore Imphal Airport.

Over one lakh families have received free electricity connections, thousands have benefited from pucca houses, and the ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ scheme has provided tap water access to over 3.5 lakh households.

A medical college has been established in Churachandpur, and under Ayushman Bharat, nearly 2.5 lakh patients have received free treatment, amounting to ₹350 crore in savings for poor families. The PM-DIVINE scheme is also developing modern health services in hill districts.

The Prime Minister noted the resolution of long-standing conflicts in the North East and expressed confidence that peace and dialogue are paving the way for development in Manipur.
