New Delhi, Sept 11: Indian Railways will run more parcel trains for Kashmir apple growers if demand increases and has introduced the first parcel train service between the Kashmir Valley and Delhi from September 13.

The service will operate a daily timetable between Badgam and Adarsh Nagar, New Delhi, with initial loading of two parcel vans carrying 23 metric tonnes of apples.

The initiative aims to provide flexibility for growers and traders and ensures apple arrivals in Delhi are timed suitably for the market. Indian Railways is also ready to attach parcel vans at intermediate stations and has expressed its commitment to boosting economic growth in the region by improving connectivity.
