 NEYVELI BOOK FAIR’S MAJESTIC MARCH CONTINUES…

New Delhi, July 09: The 4th day of the Book Fair (08.07.24) continued to see a steady flow of book lovers scouting for their favourite books. A continuous stream of school children has been the hallmark of the Book Fair. Institutional purchases of books also took place at a steady pace.

Today’s evening function began at 6.00pm.

Harpreet Kaur, DIG, CISF, was the chief guest. Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines and P&P Addl. charge) presided over the function. M. Govindarasu was honoured as the “Best Writer” while M/s. Manarkeni Publications, Villupuram, was honoured as the “Best Publisher”. Two books, “Sigaram Thodu Penne” written by P.A. Senthil Kumar and “Thirukkural – Part-II – Porutpal” written by S.P.Ramalingam, were released during the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Harpreet Kaur, DIG/CISF, said that the Neyveli Book Fair was on par with the National Book Fair conducted at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. She emphasised the importance of books for an individual to reduce stress. She also recalled Nelson Mandela’s quote – Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world and called upon the children and the youth to read books which have the power to make them think.

In his presidential address, Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines and P&P Addl. Charge) said that books opened the door to wisdom. He said that books improved critical thinking. In this digital age, it is important to remember the irreplaceable value of books. He gave a call to the children and students to cherish and inculcate the habit of reading.
