One Day Workshop On “Sustainable Co-firing Of Biomass In Thermal Power Plants” Was Organized By DVC

New Delhi, Dec 21: Damodar Valley Corporation organized a regional level workshop on ” Sustainable co-firing of Biomass in TPP: A step towards Carbon Neutrality” on 20.12.2022 at Kolkata.S.Suresh Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Power, Government of WB was the Chief Guest. Dr. Ashok Kumar Ghosh, Chairman, BPCB, Sudip Nag, ED-NTPC & Director National Biomass Mission, Subhashis Ghosh, Director (Operation), WBPDCL and N.S. Mondal, Member Secretary, ERPC attended the inaugural session as “Guest of Honour”. Ram Naresh Singh, Chairman DVC addressed the Regional level Workshop. S. L. Bhalotia, CVO, DVC was also present in the workshop. M Raghu Ram, Member (Technical), Arup Sarkar, Member (Finance) & Dr. John Mathai, Member (Secretary) also addressed the participants. Additional Secretary , Department of Agriculture & Chief Environment Officer , WB attended the program & addressed the participants. The Welcome address was delivered by Sri Sanjoy Kumar Ghosh, ED(Operation), DVC.

This workshop is the first of its kind to be organized in Eastern India , specifically in the state of West Bengal. National Biomass Mission deliberated the policy details & latest status & future action plan of co firing of Biomass in TPPs across the country. Discussions were held at length amongst the delegates to raise awareness about sustainable cofiring of Biomass in TPPs and how it will be a revolutionary mission benefitting both the farmers and the power generators.

Workshop was attended by more than 150 participants covering officials from BHEL, BCKV, DVC, CESC,WBPDCL, NPTI, Maithon Power Limited, BPSCL, FPOs, pellet making machine manufacturer and biomass pellet manufacturer. Stalls of SBI and pellet as well as pellet making machine manufacturers were also on display. Executive Directors, HOPs of DVC TPPs, Senior level officials of DVC attended the program. Papers from Mission Biomass (SAMARTH), CEA, SBI, M/s SRE, M/s Unnmukt, M/s ERDAILLUMINE and M/s CALIFORNIA PELLET MILL (CPM) were presented. Technical papers by Prof Sudipta De, JU, Dr. Subhadip Aich, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad,Tata Power Maithon, WBPDCL and DVC were also presented and interactions w made largely between TPPs & pellet manufacturers. The programme ended with vote of thanks delivered by Shri V.N. Sharma Chief Engineer (M) DVC.

विषयः डीवीसी द्वारा दिनांक 20.12.2022 को “थर्मल पावर प्लांट्स में बायोमास की सस्टेनेबल को-फायरिंग” पर एक दिवसीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया।

दामोदर घाटी निगम ने 20.12.2022 को कोलकाता में “टीपीपी में बायोमास की सतत सह-अध्ययन: कार्बन तटस्थता की ओर एक कदम” पर एक क्षेत्रीय स्तर की कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया। श्री एस सुरेश कुमार, आईएएस, अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव, विद्युत विभाग, पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार मुख्य अतिथि थे।

डॉ. अशोक कुमार घोष, बीपीसीबी के अध्यक्ष, श्री सुदीप नाग, ईडी-एनटीपीसी और निदेशक राष्ट्रीय बायोमास मिशन, श्री सुभाशीष घोष, निदेशक (संचालन), डब्ल्यूबीपीडीसीएल और श्री एन.एस. मंडल, सदस्य सचिव, ईआरपीसी ने “सम्मानित अतिथि” के रूप में भाग लिया।

श्री राम नरेश सिंह, अध्यक्ष डीवीसी ने कार्यशाला को संबोधित किया। श्री एस एल भालोटिया, सीवीओ, डीवीसी भी कार्यशाला में उपस्थित थे। श्री. एम रघु राम, सदस्य (तकनीकी), श्री. अरूप सरकार, सदस्य (वित्त) और डॉ. जॉन मथाई, सदस्य (सचिव) ने भी प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित किया।

अतिरिक्त सचिव, कृषि विभाग और मुख्य पर्यावरण अधिकारी, पश्चिम बंगाल ने कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया और प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित किया। स्वागत भाषण श्री संजय कुमार घोष, ईडी (ऑपरेशन), डीवीसी द्वारा दिया गया।

यह कार्यशाला पूर्वी भारत, विशेष रूप से पश्चिम बंगाल राज्य में आयोजित होने वाली अपनी तरह की पहली कार्यशाला है। राष्ट्रीय बायोमास मिशन ने देश भर में टीपीपी में बायोमास की को-फायरिंग की नीति विवरण और नवीनतम स्थिति और भविष्य की कार्य योजना पर विचार-विमर्श किया। टीपीपी में बायोमास की टिकाऊ कोफायरिंग के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने और किसानों और बिजली उत्पादकों दोनों को लाभ पहुंचाने वाला यह एक क्रांतिकारी मिशन कैसे होगा, इस बारे में प्रतिनिधियों के बीच लंबी चर्चा हुई।

कार्यशाला में भेल, बीसीकेवी, डीवीसी, सीईएससी, डब्ल्यूबीपीडीसीएल, एनपीटीआई, मैथन पावर लिमिटेड, बीपीएससीएल, एफपीओ, पेलेट बनाने वाली मशीन निर्माता और बायोमास पेलेट निर्माता के अधिकारियों को शामिल करते हुए 150 से अधिक प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया। एसबीआई और पेलेट के साथ-साथ पेलेट बनाने वाली मशीन निर्माताओं के स्टॉल भी प्रदर्शित किए गए थे। डीवीसी टीपीपी के कार्यकारी निदेशक, एचओपी, डीवीसी के वरिष्ठ स्तर के अधिकारियों ने कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया। मिशन बायोमास (समर्थ), सीईए, एसबीआई, मैसर्स एसआरई, मेसर्स उन्मुक्त, मेसर्स एर्डाइल्यूमाइन और मेसर्स कैलिफोर्निया पेलेट मिल (सीपीएम) के पेपर प्रस्तुत किए गए। प्रोफेसर सुदीप्त डे, जेयू, डॉ. सुभादीप ऐच, आईआईटी (आईएसएम) धनबाद, टाटा पावर मैथन, डब्ल्यूबीपीडीसीएल और डीवीसी द्वारा तकनीकी पेपर भी प्रस्तुत किए गए और टीपीपी और पेलेट निर्माताओं के बीच काफी हद तक बातचीत हुई। कार्यक्रम का समापन श्री वी.एन. शर्मा मुख्य अभियंता, ओएस&यू, डीवीसी ने की।
